Durham Chimney & Masonry Repair recently completed a small window fill-in project with concrete blocks for a customer in Cobourg, Ontario. While it might seem easy to cover up an unused opening with wood, there are better and more lasting solutions. Sealing the opening with blocks is a much more durable option. Unlike wood, concrete blocks won’t rot, warp, or attract moisture over time. They provide better insulation and help maintain the structural integrity of the building. Additionally, properly filling in the space helps to prevent pests and water from getting inside, which can cause damage down the line. To complete the job, we also parged the outside of the block, giving it a smooth, clean finish that adds an extra layer of protection against the elements. At Durham Chimney & Masonry Repair, we take pride in ensuring even the smallest projects are done right. No job is too small for us, and we’re committed to providing quality work that meets the needs of our customers while protecting their homes for years to come.
