We recently completed a chimney removal project for a couple in Oshawa, Ontario, who had serious concerns about the condition of the old brick structure on their home. The chimney was visibly leaning toward the house, raising safety alarms. Upon inspection, it became clear that the chimney posed a real risk of collapse many of the joints were missing mortar entirely, and someone had previously attempted a quick fix by filling some of the gaps with construction adhesive (PL). This is not a proper or long-lasting solution and only masked the growing structural issues.

To eliminate the hazard and restore peace of mind, our team carefully dismantled the chimney down to the roofline, ensuring no damage was done to the surrounding structure or roofing. Once removed, we installed a custom stone cap over the remaining portion to seal it off completely from the elements.

Chimney issues like this one are more common than many homeowners realize, and ignoring them can lead to serious safety concerns. If you have an old or unused chimney that looks questionable, it's best to have it inspected before it becomes a danger.
